Monday, Dec. 25, Khao Kheow – Stableford

Division 1

Christmas day saw 41 golfers take to their sleighs and make their way over to Khao Kheow for the start of the Christmas festivities.  The scores in 2017 have generally not been very high around this marvelous golf course, yet the magic of Christmas worked wonders as some great golf scores was recorded.

In Division 2 Noom Baxter who shot 44 points to take the top prize while Alan Thomas produced another great round in the premier flight.  Alan’s raw score of 5 over par was good enough to make the turkey taste a little better at the end of round celebration feast.

Tuesday, Dec. 26, Pattana – Stableford

1st Mike Rushant (11) 31pts

2nd Ally Walker (13) 31pts

3rd Jim Best (12) 28pts

Boxing Day saw the group descend to the depths of averageness after the heights they had scaled the previous day.  Quite clearly too many of the players had been feasting too heartily on the old Christmas pudding and were made to pay as Pattana delivered some knock out blows.

Ally Walkers score of 31 points was almost good enough to take the top prize but sadly his back 9 was not good enough on the day.  The winner came in the shape of Mike Rushant who was safely tucked up in bed by 9.00pm the previous night and reading the engrossing Pattana course planner.

Wednesday, Dec. 27, The Emerald – Stableford

Division 1

Division 2

1st Alun Webber (24) 34pts

2nd Andrew Rich (21) 34pts

Wednesday’s visit to Emerald Golf Course was the last opportunity for the golfers to qualify for the end of year Ferdinand Cup play off.  With so much at stake a bumper attendance was recorded with 33 players throwing their hats into the ring.

The winner of division 2 proved to be a popular result as everyone loves an under-dog.  Alun Webber, defying the handicap of his swing, managed to amass 34 points that saw him climbing to the top of the leaderboard.

Alan Thomas continued his hot streak in division 1 with 40 points and surely he will enter the Ferdinand Cup in January as the odds on favorite.

Thursday, Dec. 28, Silky Oak – Stableford

Thursday’s visit to Silky Oak proved a popular destination as 25 golfers descended upon the Barcelona Valley resort.

The second division honors fell to Rob Herald as his fine 41 points was good enough to claim the top position.  The round of the day came in division 1 from Mike Rushant with a raw score of 3 over par and 44 points.

Friday, Dec. 29, Burapha – Stableford

Division 1

Division 2

1st Ikeda Michitoshi (21) 41pts

2nd Freddy Starbuck (13) 37pts

The week’s large numbers continued with 33 golfers playing at Burapha on the Friday.

Division 2 was won by Mr. Michitoshi whose 41 points were more than enough to take the first prize.

After a number of near misses In division 1, Ken Lucente managed to at last reach the top of the leaderboard as a result of his fine round of 39 points.

Saturday, Dec. 30, Pattavia – Stableford

Saturday saw the culmination of the 2017 gold season with the confirmation of the result to unearth the player of the year.  With this in mind it was of no surprise that there was a healthy field of players involved as 29 players took on the challenges of Pattavia.

The winner of division 2 was Reg Glass with a fine 37 points, while division 1 honours went to Freddy Starbeck whose 36 points were good enough to take the day’s top prize and confirm him as the TRGG’s player of the year.
