Even par the best at Treasure Hill

Jomtien Golf with the IPGC

Monday, Nov. 29, Treasure Hill – Stableford.

This was our first visit here for at least 18 months for various reasons and the course is still a good test of golf and was enjoyed by all.  The greens were the slickest we’ve played on for a long time, there was only one downside, there was a tournament here the next day and the white and yellow tees were all in temporary positions but we have re-booked for next month.

Thirty-six points was the highest score of the day in all four divisions with the equal cut 0-15 in division 1, 16-19 division 2, and 20 plus in division 3.  Noi Emmerson was on the rostrum again winning the ladies division with 36 points and Geoff Stubbs with the same score took division 1, with Peter Seward second five points behind and Frank Kelly in third place on 29.

Billy Hewitt’s 36 points was the best in division 2 with Sassa in second place on 34 and Howard Stanley beat the French frog on a 19/17 count-back after they both scored 32 points.

Marty Aronson topped division 3 with 34 points with William Chang second one point behind and Fred Duffy third on 31.

Frank Kelly birdied the 13th to claim the only ‘2’ of the day with 38 players out so a rollover in division two ensues to Green Valley on Wednesday week.

Near pins went to Frank Kelly, Takimoto, Gert Velsberg, Chris Voller, Martyn Arnold, Peter Grant, Mike Lewis and Les Smith.

It was Bon Voyage to Wendy and Mike Lewis, Georges Faber and Sassa who will all be returning in the new year, see you soon!

Friday, Dec.3, Eastern Star – Stableford

There were only 30 men out today so a two divisional competition with the cut at 5-16 in division 1 and 17 plus in division 2, plus the ladies of course.

Two 37’s were recorded in division 1 with Pete Sumner playing off 8 beating Alan Pilkington with a 9 handicap on a 19/18 back-nine count-back.  Keith Evans was third with 35 points.

Andy Galvin took division 2 with 34 points beating the Irish boy Cully Monks by 1 point and Jerry McCarthy was in third after beating Fred Duffy and Joe Kubon on count-back, all scoring 30 points.

For the third week running Terresa Connolly won the ladies division with 34 points.

Keith Evans and Pete Sumner shared the ‘2’s in division 1 while Cully Monks birdied the 6th to get the only ‘2’ in the second division.
