2nd Barry Tregurtha (23) 38pts

3rd Billy Eyles (23) 36pts

6th Jack Grindvold (3) 35pts

Near Pins: No8 Jez Lees, No 16 Paul Hack.

17 enthusiastic golfers met at the TPL this morning to test their mettle against Green Valley golf course. The weather was fine with a slight breeze which made for near perfect conditions, and the course was in good condition.

Wining the day and the match honours was Eddy ‘The Eagle’ Beilby with an excellent 40 points. Eddy was two strokes clear of Barry Tregurtha while the inform Billy the Hat’ Eyles took the third podium spot with a solid even par round. Martin Zimmerman got the better of low handicapper Jack Grindvold to secure the fourth place as Jack was left to tidy up the flight.

The near pins were won by Jez Lees and Aussie star Paul Hack, Jez was rather lucky as he stuffed his tee shot on the par-three eighth hole which just managed to clear the hazard and hit the top of the bank, forcing the ball into the air but landing on the fringe of the green and rolling to about one foot from the pin. Jez held his nerve and sank the putt. It was certainly the shot of the day for which there is no prize.

Tuesday, Oct. 17, Green Valley – Stableford

1st Lloyd Shutterworth (6) 39pts

2nd Barry Copestake (22) 38pts

3rd Chaten Patel (15) 38pts

4th Bob StAubin (15) 37pts

5th Mick Beresford (16) 33pts

Near Pins: No 8 Bill Peach, No 16 Barry Copestake.

Lloyd Shutterworth, who plays off a seemingly stingy handicap of 6, served yet another notice he may deserve to be lower. He managed to score 39 points at Green Valley to take the man of the match honours and was one stroke clear of Barry ‘the boot’ Copestake and Chaten ‘the Rajah’ Patel. Barry had the better of the count back over Chaten and also picked up a near pin on the 16th hole. Bob StAubin took the fourth podium spot with 37 points.

Mickey ‘nine’ holes’ Beresford filled the five man flight with 33 points, has his run come to an end, or has his handicap caught up with him?

Friday, Oct. 20, Emerald G.C. – Stableford

1st Tony Oakes (17) 41pts

2nd Bill Peach (21) 37pts

3rd Tony McDonough (18) 35pts

4th Eddy Beilby (22) 32pts

Near Pins: No 7 Martin Allard, No 16 Bill Peach.

The TPL traveled to the Emerald golf course to play our usual Friday bash with 18 players. The course was in fine condition but the greens were a bit slow. The committee decided that one flight was required but with five places.

Before the game got under way there was a bit of confusion with the caddies as only one caddie had the right bag but it did not take too long to sort out.

The delay did not deter Tony ‘the glove’ Oakes as he put a 41 point lashing on the field.  The second step of the podium went to Bill Peach with a solid 37 points. New member to the group Tony McDonough filled the third podium spot with 35 points. The committees decided to withdraw the fifth podium spot citing a lack of points so it was Eddy ‘the Eagle’ who was left to tidy up the flight with32 points. What no Mickey in the prizes?
