We had some great scoring today at Green Valley: Gary Emmet, visiting us again from Oz, was the day’s winner on a fine 39 points and Warren Holland was a putting like a demon and finished on 38.  Peter LeNoury managed only 1 double and ended up with 37 points.

Wednesday, March 16, St. Andrews – Stableford

2nd Jim Bryan (16) 39pts

3rd Kevin Moraghan (15) 38pts

4th Brad Sproxton (11) 37pts

Jim Dundon saved his best for last at St. Andrews and playing in our first group so as to get to the airport on time proved to be to his liking.  A magnificent 44 points was the result.  It should be noted that although the taxi was waiting Jim did take the time to ring the bell and thus received a thunderous send off.  Well done Jim!

Gentleman Jim Bryan also had a fine day and finished second with 39 points.  Kevin Moraghan left a few putts on the lip but still mustered 38 points for third and Brad Sproxton was fourth on 37.

Thursday, March 17, Soi Dao Highlands – Stableford

3rd Jon Lay 36pts

B Flight (13+)

1st Brian Prudden 40pts

3rd Brett Chan 36pts

Day 1 started out with the usual “Herding of the Cats” onto vans and into cars for the journey up to Soi Dao.  We encountered a steady drizzle of rain the entire day and played in was likely the coldest conditions for the last few years.  The ice in the coolers didn’t even melt.

Judging by the scores the weather did not affect our division winners as A Flight was decided on count-back with John McHuge edging Steve Mulberry for first place with a back 3 of 7 to a back 3 of 5.  Jon Lay played to a patient 36 points for third.

B Flight winner scored more points than his body weight.  Brian Prudden was first on 40 points, JJ Wright came second on 38 and “Yes I can” Brett Chan took third with 36 points.

The golf was then followed by a not so quick presentation and an evening of Karaoke and camaraderie.

Friday, March 18, Soi Dao Highlands – Stableford

A Flight (0–12)

1st Steve Mulberry 41pts

2nd Ernie McInerney 38pts

3rd Bob Newell 37pts

B Flight (13+)

1st Tony Duthie 39pts

2nd Brian Prudden 39pts

3rd Chris Brendle 39pts

Near Pins:  No3 Shane Ruddle, No16 Bob Newell.

On Day 2 we awoke to awesome weather, sunshine and smiles from the caddies.  More amazing golf soon followed.

A Flight saw a repeat offender at the top again.  Steve Mulberry fired yet another 41 points at us to take first place while Ernie McInerney was alone on 38 for second and the ‘King of Karaoke’ Bob Newell took third with 37 plus a near pin also.

The seconf flight was decided on a three-way count-back with all contestants shooting 39 points.  Chris Brendle had a back 9 of 21 and finished third, we then had to get the calculator out to decide our eventual winner as Brian Prudden and Tony Duthie needed the #1 handicap hole to break the tie.  Tony’s 6 for 2 edged Brian’s 8 for 1.

Thanks to Shane Ruddle and the gang from Fairways Driving Range for joining us on this excursion.  We ended up with 29 players and 2 days of fun, laughter and new friends.  Cheers!
