Fresh off the back of a thrilling 5-3 home victory over Prachuap the previous week, Pattaya United slipped to a disappointing 1-0 away defeat to mid-table Krabi FC last Sunday to fall out of the Division 1 promotion places following Nakhon Pathom’s 2-1 win against Samut Songkhram.

Krabi’s winning goal against the Dolphins came in the 26th minute of the match courtesy of an own goal by Pattaya vice-captain Lee Won-young of Korea.

Runaway leaders Police United meanwhile enjoyed an emphatic 3-0 victory over second placed BBCU last weekend to keep the battle for the remaining two promotion places in the melting pot.  Pattaya are currently just one point behind Nakhon Pathom and two adrift of BBCU.  The Dolphins next face Bangkok United at the Nongprue Stadium in Pattaya on Saturday, Sept. 26.  Kick-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.

There was further bad news for the region’s clubs last weekend as Chonburi FC suffered a 3-1 defeat away at Thai Port on Sunday in the Thai Premier League to all but end their hopes of mounting a serious challenge for this year’s title.  Muangthong United and Buriram currently head the standings with 53 points each while Chonburi are now lying in fifth place on 40 points.
