IPGC golf from The Tara Court

Sunday. March 2, St. Andrews – Stableford

We were in St Andrews today where because of the large numbers playing Green Valley they kindly moved us over to at Green Valley price.  It is always a pleasure to play here where the fairways are like carpet and the greens fast.

A bit hotter today as the temperature is starting to rise again.  The course was quiet and we got a free run and got round in just over four hours, which added very much to the enjoyment.

Joe Cuddy and Don Byrne.Joe Cuddy and Don Byrne.

We had a few good scores today; Joe Cuddy, playing his last game with us for this year, had an excellent forty points and was a clear winner.  Over the past few weeks a lot of our players seem to be winning on their last few games.  Maybe they should stay on a bit more as the longer they stay they seem to get used to playing the courses here and come good just before they go home!

Charlie Lapsley, who has just arrived, came second with thirty seven points and Sean Hallahan, who was also playing his last game, was third with thirty six.  Joe McArdle came in fourth with thirty four points after beating John Marsh on a count back.  Paul Anderson also had thirty four but unfortunately was kept out of the prizes on the count back.

1st Joe Cuddy (23) 40pts

2nd Charlie Lapsley (8) 37pts

3rd Sean Hallahan (22) 36pts

4th Joe McArdle (13) 34pts

5th John Marsh (9) 34pts

2’s:  Charlie Lapsley, Joe McArdle.

Tuesday, March 4, Pattaya Country Club – Stableford

Today we made the short trip to Pattaya Country Club and while the course was in reasonably good condition, it is probably not good value for money in comparison to other courses in the area which are cheaper and much better.  However, the short journey out and the fact that is user friendly makes it worth the odd visit.

We had two players with thirty eight points today, Don Byrne and Joe McArdle, who played together and had a ding-dong battle with Don winning out on the count back.  Next we had two on thirty six, Pat Culloty and George Cullen, with Pat winning that one on the count back also.

1st Don Byrne (16) 38pts

2nd Joe McArdle (13) 38pts

3rd Pat Culloty (20) 36pts

4th George Cullen (12) 36pts

2’s:  Joe McArdle.

Thursday, March 6, Khao Kheow – Stableford

Back at Khao Kheow on Friday to what is probably the best and most difficult course in the area.  We played A and B which are the best nines to play and the course was in excellent condition, although the greens were not quite as fast as usual but still very good.

Jon Batty was back with us again after a bit of an absence and quickly made his mark, being the only player to play to his handicap and winning with thirty six points.  Paul Murphy was second with thirty three and Joe McArdle third with thirty two.  Joe Peters got the fourth place with thirty one.

1st Jon Batty (10) 36pts

2nd Paul Murphy (5) 33pts

3rd Joe McArdle (13) 32pts

4th Joe Peters (23) 31pts

2’s:  Paul Murphy
