Monday, June 9, Pattavia – Stableford

With the new clubhouse now open reports coming in from various groups still rate this course, and the comments after the round from our players were very complimentary, especially regarding the condition on the greens.

Playing off 12, Mike Chatt, the ex-London black cab driver, scored 20 points on the front nine and 15 on the back to win division 1 with 35 in total.  Chris Slota came in second two points behind and surprisingly with his new 4,000 baht putter Chris Voller took third with 31.

(Left to right): Mike Chatt, Rod Howett and Ger Lodge.(Left to right): Mike Chatt, Rod Howett and Ger Lodge.

Rod Howett topped division 2 with a meagre 33 points ahead of Pepo Frick in second on 31 and Larry Leibowitz, the volunteer Walking Street policeman, was third on 30.

Alan Bissell birdied the 138yd fourth hole for the only ‘2’ in division 2 while a rollover ensued to Plutaluang on Wednesday in division 1.

Near pins went to Mike Chatt, Terry Madsen (2), Alan Bissell and John Dearden

Wednesday, June 11, Plutaluang – Stableford

We booked to play the North and West courses today and we teed-off 15 minutes ahead of our scheduled time.  As always in this area there were many dark and gloomy clouds rolling around in the background but this was no problem today as there was no rain throughout the round.

Ger Lodge recorded the best score of the day, winning division 2 with 37 points.  Sid Ottaway came in second two points behind Ger and Roar Berger took third after beating Bryan Priestley 18/16 on a back nine count back after both came in with 33 points each.  This was not too upsetting for Bryan as he is now in love with the caddy at the nine-hole course in Baan Saray.

Eiichi Matsumoto beat Phil Clerehan 17/16 on the back nine to win division 1 after they both returned scores of 34 and in third place with 33 was Chris Voller.

Near pins were claimed by Mike Chatt, Grenville Hill, Terry Madsen (2), Sid Ottaway (2) and Bryan Priestley.

There were no ‘2’s in division 1 Ger Lodge managed to birdie the lighthouse hole to scoop the pool in division 2.

Friday, June 13, Eastern Star – Stableford

Our highest turnout of the week saw us take seven four-balls to Eastern Star with the equal cut in the field at 5-19 and 20 and above.

As we teed off there was a strong cool breeze coming off the coast which made a pleasant change and kept it cool throughout the round.

Two 39 point scores came in, with Karl Flood winning division 1 and Iain Walsh doing the same in division 2.  Chris Slota took second behind Karl in the top tier on 36 points and Ger Lodge beat Arthur Hancock 17/14 on the back nine for third after they both came in with 33 points each.

Rod Howett was the runner-up in the second flight, beating Joe Kubon 19/18 on the back nine after they both returned scores of 36.

Bill Bertram birdied the 17th to take the rollover ‘2’s pot in division 1 and Fred O’Connor was the only claimant today in division 2.

Near pins were shared between Bill Bertram, Tony Bless, Kissy Buchanan, Ger Lodge, Fred O’Connor (2) and Chris Slota.
