On Monday the TRGG visited Pleasant Valley golf course.  The day was set fair with the weather outlook a great deal more positive for the week ahead that it been for some while.

David Booth used his craft and guile well around the greens to score 36 points and take 3rd position. Just beating David Booth as a result of a better back 9 was Mike Rushant who is showing incredible powers of recovery considering he had two complete leg replacements in May. Another podium and second place for Mike.

However, there can be no surprise that the winner of the day came in the form of Billy Allan. There are few players who play this course better than Billy and his 38 points was more than enough to take the top prize.

As the players travelled back down the 7 to Pattaya they felt reassured by the fact that whilst Billy plays Pleasant Valley really well he plays the other 26 flaming terribly.

Tuesday, Oct. 17, Phoenix – Stableford

1st Roger Wilkinson (15) 39pts

2nd Carl Lovatt (15) 38pts

3rd Mr Cho (09) 38pts

Billy Allen.
Billy Allen.

The previous day the TRGG had seen the top prize taken by course specialist Billy Allen and with a visit to Phoenix on the Tuesday the odds were immediately slashed on Roger Wilkinson who treats this course like his second home.

The improved weather conditions were being reflected with the scores with three players scoring 38 points it was left to count back to decide that Carl Lovatts 38 points were good enough for second, Mr Cho’s 38 were good enough for 3rd and Eddie Townsends 38 points were good for nothing.

But of course it was of no surprise that the part time Phoenix Green-keeper, Roger Wilkinson steamed home with 39 points.

Wednesday, Oct. 18, Pattana – Stableford

John Ryan (15) 41pts

Rick Forrest (21) 38pts

Kevin Ruisbrook (05) 37pts

Pattana was the venue on Wednesday for the 23 golfers trying to produce a performance worthy of a podium finish. One such top round was the raw 4-over scored by Kevin Ruisbrook. This was the lowest raw score of the day and gave Kevin 3rd place with 37 points.

Just beating him into second place with a score of 38 points was Rick Forrest. Normally that would have been good enough for the top prize but on this day no one could contend with John Ryan.

His 42 points off his 15 handicap gave the Irishman victory leaving the rest of the field trailing in his wake.

Thursday, Oct. 19, Silky Oak – Stableford

1st Gerry Fernandez (12) 41pts

2nd Roger Wilkinson (15) 37pts

3rd Eddie Townsend (20) 35pts

Silky Oak welcomed the society on Thursday. With the course drying out good scores as always were expected from this day out.

After his near miss on Tuesday, Eddie Townsends 35 points were good enough to get him back on the podium in 3rd position. Roger Wilkinson was once again shooting below his handicap and his 37 points took second place.

But the round of the day came from Gerry Fernandez. Reaching half way one under par with 25 points, the writing was on the wall. Luckily tactical blobbing of holes 16 and 17 resulted in him scoring only 41 points and once again we were all treated to a new member scoring a fantastic sore on debut. We are a friendly lot.

Friday, Oct. 20, Burapha – Stableford

1st Wayne Green (04) 36pts

2nd Brian Keely (04) 35pts

3rd Kevin Ruisbrook (05) 35pts

On Friday, 20 TRGG golfers navigated their way around Burapha golf course. Usually the course proves to be quite kind and high scores are expected. However despite the good numbers no one shot beyond their handicap.

Kevin Ruisbrook once gain scaled the podium as his 35 points was good enough for 3rd place. He was just beaten into second by Brian Keely whose debut round at the society resulted in 35 points and second place, by virtue of a stronger back 9.

However the round of the day came from Wayne Green whose 4 over par round was good enough to take away the day’s top prize

Saturday, Oct. 21, Crystal Bay – Stableford

1st Kevin Ruisbrook (05) 35pts

2nd Wayne Green (04) 34pts

3rd Chris Cummins (08) 34pts

On Saturday the group visited Crystal Bay for the first time in a while. With each day getting hotter the courses are drying out and Chris Cummins was able to take advantage of this to score 34 points and take 3rd place.

Wayne Greens consistent form continued from the previous day and his 34 points were good enough for the second prize. However this day was Kevin Ruisbrook’s day. After 2 near misses during the week his 35 points were more than enough to see him home and give him his first victory at the TRGG.
