Four groups left the TPL for our regular Sunday knock at Green Valley with the rain clouds looming but thankfully we only had a ten minute delay as we arrived at the Ninth hole.  The course was in very good condition and one flight was required with four places up for grabs.

Mick Beresford turned out with some sore ribs after slipping off his motor bike but all credit to him he managed to finish the game.

There was some very impressive scores to day none more so than the eventual winner Barry ‘The Boot’ Copestake who turned in a magnificent 44 points for the top podium spot and the match bragging rights.  Barry was three strokes clear of Mr. nice guy Mark Wood, who also picked up a near pin.  Eddy ‘The Eagle’ was perched on the third podium spot with a sound 39 points, leaving Brian ‘the ‘wireless’ Wilkinson to close the flight.

Tuesday, Sept. 26, Green Valley – Stableford

1st Pat Regan (17) 40pts

2nd Billy Eyles (23) 37pts

3rd Mick Beresford (18) 36pts

4th Brian Wilkinson (25) 35pts

Near Pins: No 8 Eddy Beilby, No 16 Tony Oakes.

Still millionaire’s golf at this time of year, the course was in fine condition with hardly anyone on it.

Co. Dublin’s Pat Regan took the top spot on the podium with a man of the match 40 points and was three clear of the man never far from the brass ring, Billy ‘The hat’ Eyles.  Billy was one clear of a player who is always there or there abouts, Mickey ‘Nine holes’ Beresford and this left Brian ‘The wireless’ Wilkinson to close the flight for the second time in as many games with a steady 35 points.

Friday, Sept. 29, Emerald G.C. – Stableford

1st Mick Beresford (18) 40pts

2nd Tony Oakes (16) 38pts

3rd Jim Bell (20) 33pts

4th Henri Copperstone (6) 33pts

Near Pins: No 16 Chris Stevens.

Playing stableford at the usually tough Emerald Golf Club didn’t pose any problems for the golf manager Mickey ‘nine holes’ Beresford, having one of his better games to win by a comfortable margin and scoring an excellent 40 points in the process.  Mickey started his game with four straight pars and then had a bit of a wobble but recovered on the back-nine.  His 40 points contained 10 pars, not bad for an 18-handicapper.

Mickey was two strokes clear of Tony ‘the glove’ Oakes while Jim ‘AK-47’Bell took third place, beating Henri Copperstone on a count-back, both players having 33 points.
