Tuesday, March 19, Bangpakong – Stableford

It’s still high season for golf, and a good crowd of players took on Bang­pakong Riverside which was in typically great condition but the fairways didn’t yield much roll.

We had a total field of 27 players, with sixteen winners, spread over four flights. The top spot in A flight (0–12) went to Landis Brooks’ 38 points from his handicap of 5. Second went to Bill Steinman (12), also with 38 points, but losing on countback. Third was John Davis (12) with 37 points while Rob Brown had the top nine hole score among non placers with 20 points.

In the B flight, (13–19) Alan Sullivan (14), was first with 41 points, Brian Parish (13) came second with 37 and Andre Van Dyk (16) placed third with 32. Bob Britton had the top nine hole score with 19 points.

In the C flight (20-24), David Bailey (23) was first with a best of the day 45 points. Walter Baechli (22) came second with 38 and Graham Buckingham (23) took third on 36. Kae Dayton had the best nine score with 18 points.

Roy Dayton (28) was first in the D flight (25 and up) with 38 points. Karen Brown (31) came second with 33 points and Henry Wong (28) took third with 32 on countback over Barry Elphick. Barry did, however, have the best nine hole score with 18 points.

Friday, March 22, Treasure Hill – Stableford

Treasure Hill is really a nice layout, but a real challenge. We did have some good scores today, with three players scoring better than their handicaps.

We had a total field of 25 players and the top spot in A flight (0–13) was decided on countback, with Steve Truelove claiming first on 35 points from his handicap of 10. Second went to John Davis (12), also with 35 points but losing the countback while in third was Brian Parish (12) with 33 and Rob Brown (5) fourth with 31 points. Landis Brooks had the top nine hole score among non placers with 16 points.

In the B flight (14–23), Andre Van Dyk (16) was first with 34 points, Mashi Kaneta (15) came second on 30 and Mick Coghlan (19) third with 25 points. Frank Xin had the top nine hole score with only 13 points on countback over Brian Gabe.

In the C flight (24 and up), Karen Brown (31) was first with 38 points, Carole Kubicki (24) and Barry Elphick (29) both tallied 37 points with Carole claiming second on countback and Roy Dayton (28) claimed fourth with 31 points. Don Carmody had the best nine score with 16 points.
