Colin Aspinall returned the best score of the day, winning division 1 with 37 points, six points ahead of Paul Butler in second place who beat Jerry Sweetnam on a 15/13 back nine count back.

With an unexpected few days off from his pilot’s job, Jeff Greer edged Frank Kelly 20/15 on count back to win division 2 after they both came in with 35 points each.  Alan D was third with 34 points.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Alan Bissell, Paul Butler and Andres Holder, and (Div 2) William Chang (2), Don Head and Frank Kelly.

There were no ‘2’s today in either division so rollovers to Crystal Bay on Wednesday.

Wednesday, Sept. 21, Crystal Bay – Stableford

Only one division out today and with the A course under renovation we were playing the C and B nines.  It was a very hot and humid day and with no buggies allowed it was tough going to get aound.

After 12 holes Dave Horne, playing off 14, had 29 points but the weather got to him and he followed with three blobs.  However he still did just enough to take the win with 33 points.

In second place was Andres Holder on 31 points and in third place came Terry Madsen with 29.

Andres Holder and Terry Madsen secured the only near pin awards given out today and there were once again no ‘2’s in either division.

Friday, Sept. 23, Eastern Star – Stableford

As we met up at Frasers for breakfast it was very overcast all round with a few spots of rain.  There were however no phone calls from our caddies or the clubhouse saying the course was closed so we continued on.  As we drove down towards the course it looked a lot brighter and when we checked in we were told that buggies were allowed on the fairways, amazing!

There were six groups out with the cut at 8-16 and the organizer returned the best score of the day, winning division 2 with 35 points, 13 on the front nine and 22 on the back nine.  Darryl Blair came second on 33 points and Tony Thorne was third with 30.

Steve Godfrey topped division 1 standings with 31 points, Brian Green was second on 30 and Bill Bertram beat Paul Hartley 19/17 on the back nine for third after they both finished with 29 points each.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Colin Fletcher and Chris Voller, and (Div 2) Glyn Evans.

Colin Fletcher birdied the 13th for the only ‘2’ of the day and picked up a rollover prize pot.
