140 registered for Colors of East Golf tourney May 26

More than 100 golfers have already registered for the May 26 qualifying round of the Colors of the East Golf Tournament.

Chanarong Suhongsa of the Tourism and Sports Ministry office in Chonburi and Nirandorn Pimwong, general manager of Green Valley Country Club in Rayong on April 24 announced details of one of three opening rounds for finals to be held in August in Pattaya.

The 140 plus golfers will battle in three categories in the 18-hole competition, with the top 10 highest scores in flights A, B and C moving on to the next round.

Other qualifying rounds are scheduled at Green Valley, Bangpra Golf Club on June 23 and Khao Kheow Country Club on July 21.  The final will take place at Siam Country Club’s “Old Course” on Aug. 28.

The golf tournament is part of the Colors of the East Football Industrial Cup and Golf Tournament.

The event, part of this year’s Colors of East Chonburi Golf Paradise 2017 festival, is aimed at showcasing the Eastern Seaboard as a sports-tourism destination.

Teams from four eastern provinces will compete in the region’s biggest football tournament during the festival.

Chonburi is in charge of organizing the competition fields, facilities, monitoring and awards.
