A Christian group got the support they wanted from Pattaya City Hall and held their evangelical convention in Jomtien Beach this week.

An estimated 4,000 people from 100 countries were expected to attend the Sept. 2-8 Youth With a Mission Together confab at the Ambassador City Hotel.

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, local Rotary clubs and Pattaya Sports Club joined YWAM in July in asking for city for a venue and security.

A Christian music concert at Bali Hai Pier was free to the public, with donations going to the poor. Other activities were organized for Pattaya schools and Central Festival Pattaya Beach.

The Evangelical Fellowship of Thailand was asked to explain to the foreigners that Thai and Buddhist culture must be respected, and that prohibited behavior might offend Thais.
