EU Referendum Overseas Voter Registration: The UK Electoral Commission is encouraging British citizens living overseas to register to vote ahead of the referendum on the UK’s membership of the European Union on June 23. To register as an overseas voter you must have previously been registered in a UK constituency within the last 15 years. Once registered, overseas voters can then choose how they wish to vote. They can vote by post, by proxy (voting by appointing someone you trust to vote on your behalf), or even in person at their polling station if they will be in their local authority area on polling day. To register, UK citizens should visit website: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Notice to all United States registered Democrats: if you wish to vote in the Presidential primaries, as well as the final Presidential elections next November, you can vote from abroad by registering with Democrats Abroad. Groups & Associations

The Royal British Legion Thailand meets the last Saturday of every month from 2 p.m. at the Tropical Bar on Soi Khao Noi (Watboonsampan near the Temple entrance) in East Pattaya. You do not need to have served in the Armed Forces to become a member and can join in the many social events arranged throughout the year. The Samaritans of Thailand English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone. Events

The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, May 29. Everyone is warmly welcome. Dr. Mano (formerly Dr. Mettanando Bhikkhu) will return with a follow up on his previous presentation on the “State of the Nation.” The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

A joint Chambers of Commerce Eastern Seaboard Networking Evening will be held from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Friday 27 May at the Amari Pattaya. During the evening, there will be a short update on future infrastructure investment plans in the Eastern Seaboard by a representative from the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB), after which Sander van der Linden will elaborate on Corbion Purac’s investment plans which fueled the Netherlands’ position as the #2 investor in the Eastern Seaboard in 2016. The speeches will be kept short and delivered in relaxed setting. Admission cost is 500 baht for members and non-members and includes a cocktail dinner and drinks (cash payment on the door).

The Queen of England’s 90th birthday will be celebrated with a Gurkha Curry Night at the Queen Victoria Inn Soi 6 Pattaya from 4 p.m. on Saturday 11th June. Food will be provided by the Gurkha Guards of the British Embassy in Bangkok. Admission price of 300 baht includes food, free door raffle, music, an auction, special guests and more. Tony’s Fitness Center at the junction of Third Road and Pattaya Tai (South) will be holding an International Day of Yoga on June 21 to help raise funds for Tony’s Animal Shelter, which takes care of abandoned, injured and abused dogs. There will be two yoga classes held during the event: 6 p.m. – 7.15 p.m. and 8 p.m. – 9.15 p.m. and those attending are requested to make a minimum contribution of 100 baht which will help provide medical care and food for the dogs.
