The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, January 24. Everyone is warmly welcome. Guenther Worthmann, who was involved in the German Space Program, will speak on the topic of: “Space, Sun, Moon, and Stars.” The Club meets every Sunday morning at the Tavern by the Sea Restaurant located on the north end of Beach Road (part of the Amari Orchid Resort). The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

A Joint Chambers Eastern Seaboard Networking Evening will be held at the Amari Ocean Pattaya Resort on Friday, January 22 from 6.30 p.m. – 9 p.m. (last drinks served at 8.30 p.m.). The finals of the BMW-B.Grimm Thai Polo Open will take place on Saturday, January 23 from 12am – 9pm at the Thai Polo and Equestrian club in East Pattaya. In addition to the on-field sporting contest there also will be plenty of entertainment for all the family including a buffet lunch, shopping opportunities and games at sponsors’ pavilions, pony rides for children, music from the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra and a fireworks display. Dress code is smart/casual. Spectators are requested to make a donation to charity in lieu of an admission cost.

Ocean Marina in Na Jomtien will be holding a Trash & Treasure sale on Sunday, Jan 24 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Come and explore the various second-hand items and valuables on sale and seek out some treasure. The Disabled Sailing Association will be hosting a booth and accepting donations and items for donation. Food & drinks will be available at the event.

The 8th Pattaya Bed Race will take place on Sunday, Jan 31 with the pre-race parade and music concerts starting at 4 p.m. Local and international teams will push their highly decorated mobile beds from Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall in a race to the finish line at Walking Street. Nong Nooch Tropical Garden will stage the International Active Run 2016 on Sunday, January 31 starting at 5.30 a.m. Limited to just 1000 runners, the event will feature 3 race distances of 21km (half marathon), 10.5km (mini marathon) and a 4km (fun run). The Mahidol University Jazz Orchestra will be performing an open-air concert at Phornprapha Botanic Gardens, Soi Siam Country Club from 4.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. on Sunday 24th January. The orchestra will perform a variety of well-known jazz standards as well as pieces from the world of Latin-American music and popular music. All are welcome to attend. A small donation is requested to cover expenses, with any surplus money collected going to the Hand to Hand Foundation for children.

The Royal British Legion Thailand meets the last Saturday of every month from 2 p.m. at the Tropical Bar on Soi Khao Noi (Watboonsampan near the Temple entrance) in East Pattaya. The Samaritans of Thailand English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
