The next meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) will be held on Sunday, April 15. Although it is Songkran week, attendees will be meeting and enjoying entertainment by Pattaya Players with their performance of “Love Letters.” The program starts at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on the 4th floor of the Holiday Inn’s Executive Tower, located behind the Holiday Inn’s Bay Tower on Beach Road.

Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall will organize 7 days and 7 nights of non-stop entertainment from 13 – 19 April at the Sunken Activity area. Enjoy splash parties, top DJs, live music and much more to help celebrate this year’s Songkran holiday period.

A Joint Chambers Eastern Seaboard networking evening will be held at the Movenpick Siam Hotel Pattaya on Friday, April 27 from 6.30 p.m. – 9 p.m. (last drinks at 8.30 p.m.). YWCA Pattaya Center will hold the 6th Charity Walk-Run on Pattaya Beach on Saturday, June 16 with runners competing for Her Royal Highness Princess Somsawalee’s Cups. The races cover distances of 1.5km, 3km, 6km and 10km and admission cost is 400 baht. Proceeds from the event will go towards charitable projects chosen by the YWCA. A Farmers’ Market takes place every 2nd Saturday of the month at the Holiday Inn hotel on Pattaya Beach Road from 10.30 am – 3.30 p.m.  Products range from wellness items, jewelry, freshly prepared food, organic vegetables and fruits. The next market will be held April 14.

A stamp market is held every Sunday from 10.00 a.m. till 3.00 p.m.at Rahnpintang Moe Kata Restaurant, Panji Place, on Soi Ponphraphanimit 7 (200m from the Bangkok Highway underpass). Here can you exchange stamps from the whole world. Call 089 091 3418 for more information and directions.

Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya’s Songkran dinner buffet features a variety of Thai specialties, charcoal-grilled prime meats, live cooking stations and a parade of authentic Thai desserts: Served 13-15 April from 6.30-9.30pm. Thai street food is on the menu at Oasis throughout April. The chefs at Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya are creating some of the all-time favourites including fermented sausage with condiments (THB 200++), deep-fried crab sausage (THB 260++), grilled chicken with papaya and sticky rice (THB 260++), fried seafood pancake (THB 280++), and southern deep-fried chicken with shallot (THB 280++). Oasis has both indoor and outdoor seating, and is open from early in the morning until late into the evening. Meanwhile Aqua restaurant offers the best Naples-style pizzas, including Caprino Pizza, smothered in tomato, mozzarella and roast zucchini (THB 490++), or a pizza layered with ham, brown mushrooms and olives (THB 450++). Yamato Restaurant located on Soi Yamato has been around for more than 35 years and the soi was named after its oldest tenant. Just look for the Japanese characters on the blinds outside. You cannot miss it. The menu is pictorial, which is a must when trying a different cuisine/language. This is a restaurant to take a few people with you. The North Star Library on Sukhumvit Road, north Pattaya holds regular Thai language classes Mon – Fri from 10.30 a.m. till 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. Cost of admission is 100 baht per session for library members and 200 baht for non-members. Private lessons are also available for 200 baht per hour. In addition, the library also holds Yoga training every Tuesday from 1 – 2 p.m. at the Father Ray Foundation.
