Neighborhood President Jirawat Plukjai opened the April 17 event that saw nine monks from Nong Or Temple chant holy stanzas.

Top city officials and community leaders were on hand as residents took turns pouring water on the hands of the monks to bless them for the Thai New Year.

The monks then returned the favor before everyone enjoyed a morning meal.

After the meal, the community’s senior citizens were honored with gentle water-pouring in the Thai tradition, followed by singing and dancing.
