PATTAYA, Thailand – A fire damaged an investigation room and destroyed numerous case files at Bang Lamung Police Station in Chonburi on November 6. Pattaya’s disaster prevention center received an emergency call at approximately 5.30 p.m. and dispatched three fire engines, accompanied by rescuers from the Sawang Boriboon.

Firefighters found heavy smoke pouring from a room on the second floor of the four-storey police station. The blaze was brought under control after approximately 20 minutes. The affected room was used by investigating officers and was left extensively damaged. Case files stored inside suffered particularly heavy damage. The room was also on the same floor as the station superintendent’s office.

A police officer at the scene said an investigating officer had raised the alarm after discovering the fire. Officers initially attempted to contain the flames using fire extinguishers before fire crews arrived. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. An electrical short circuit is among the preliminary possibilities, but officials have yet to establish the exact cause.
