PATTAYA, Thailand – Eight people were injured after a black HAVAL H6 crashed into vehicles waiting at a red light at Phothisan intersection on the Pattaya–Naklua Road late on October 19, damaging nearly 10 cars and motorcycles.

The crash was reported at around 11.30pm at the intersection in Naklua, Banglamung district. Pattaya’s Sawang Boriboon rescue foundation sent emergency workers to the scene, where damaged vehicles and scattered debris covered the road.

Rescue workers treated the injured before taking them to hospital. The driver of the HAVAL, identified as 28-year-old Denchai, sustained minor injuries. Other damaged vehicles included a white MG ZS, a white Toyota Yaris and several motorcycles, including Honda Giorno, Vespa and Honda Wave 125i models.

A witness told authorities that vehicles were waiting normally at the red light when the HAVAL approached at speed without appearing to slow down or brake, striking the rear of the queue and triggering a chain collision.

Denchai reportedly told police he had been feeling fatigued and fell asleep while driving, causing him to lose control. CCTV footage from the intersection also showed the HAVAL crashing into vehicles waiting at the traffic signal.

Police said an alcohol test on the driver found no alcohol in his system. Investigators are collecting evidence and questioning the driver, injured parties and witnesses to establish the circumstances of the crash and determine further legal action.
