PATTAYA, Thailand – More than 50 police and administrative officers conducted roadside checks and surprise inspections of Pattaya entertainment venues on October 17, finding six patrons with preliminary urine tests indicating possible drug use.

The operation was led by senior officers from Provincial Police Region 2, Chonburi Provincial Police, Pattaya City Police and Banglamung district administration. Tourist Police also joined the teams.

Officers set up a checkpoint on North Pattaya Road, stopping selected cars and motorcycles to check for weapons, drugs and other illegal items. They also checked individuals for outstanding arrest warrants. No illegal items were found during the roadside inspections.

In a separate unannounced inspection at a targeted entertainment venue along Pattaya Third Road, officers checked approximately 100 patrons. Preliminary urine screening produced purple results for six people — one man and five women.

The six were taken for further testing at a hospital to determine whether drugs were present in their systems. If confirmatory tests establish drug use, authorities said the individuals would be referred for treatment in accordance with legal procedures. The operation focused on detecting firearms and narcotics, preventing underage entry into entertainment venues and identifying other illegal activity.
