Major retailers and auto service providers are offering discounts, inspections and repair services to households affected by flooding.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) is working with major retailers and automotive service providers to keep prices stable and offer discounts on essential goods and repair services for flood-affected households. Officials met with businesses recently to ensure adequate supplies of home repair materials, electrical appliances, cleaning equipment, and vehicle parts.

Participating businesses include HomePro, DoHome, Thai Watsadu, Mega Home, Global House, and MR. D.I.Y., along with CP Axtra, Power Buy, Power Mall, Central, and Big C. Automotive providers, including FIT Auto, B-Quik, Autobacs, Toyota, Ford, and Isuzu, have also been asked to offer affordable vehicle inspections and repairs.

The department has encouraged businesses to provide discounts, free or reduced-price inspections, trade-in promotions, and installment payment options. Companies have also been asked to maintain sufficient inventories and speed up deliveries to affected communities to prevent shortages.

The DIT is preparing local and regional sales events under the Thai Helps Thai: Blue Flag Cost-of-Living Reduction program to offer essential goods at lower prices. Consumers are advised to check prices and service conditions and report suspected overcharging or unfair practices through the department’s hotline at 1569. (NNT)
