CHACHOENGSAO, Thailand – The Defence, Natural Resources and Environment, and Interior ministries are coordinating efforts to accelerate drainage and assist flood-affected communities in Chachoengsao. Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Adul Boonthumjaroen, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchart Chomklin, and Deputy Interior Minister Polapee Suwunchwee met provincial officials on October 5 to assess water flows, affected areas, and obstacles hampering drainage.

Authorities are managing water from upstream to downstream areas and deploying personnel, machinery, and equipment based on on-the-ground conditions. Suchart called for faster drainage and assistance for farmers whose livelihoods have been affected, while authorities oversee evacuation centers, relief, and compensation, and ensure emergency funds are sent where they are needed.

The Defence Ministry is coordinating military personnel, vehicles, and other resources through the 12th Military Circle and the Chachoengsao Provincial Internal Security Operations Command. Support includes transportation, evacuations, and assistance in areas requiring urgent intervention. Authorities are also addressing the needs of agricultural producers and monitoring fees for moving vehicles and property from flooded locations to protect residents from additional financial hardship.

The three ministers and Chachoengsao Governor Monsit Paisanthanawat later inspected conditions in Bang Khla district and visited the temporary evacuation center at Wat Hua Sai. Officials reviewed drainage problems and assistance for displaced residents, including food, drinking water, sanitation, and medical care, with additional attention to elderly people, patients, and vulnerable groups. Relief and drainage operations will continue as long as flooding persists, followed by recovery efforts as water levels recede. (NNT)
