
BANGKOK, Thailand – The government and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will host a royal commemorative celebration at Lumphini Park from April 25 to 30, 2026, marking the 100th anniversary of the passing of His Majesty King Vajiravudh (King Rama VI) and celebrating the park’s 100th anniversary.
Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister’s Office Yupha Taweewattanakitborvon and Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt jointly presided over the opening blessing ceremony in front of King Vajiravudh’s royal monument.
The Permanent Secretary announced that Their Majesties the King and Queen have granted permission for the commemorative activities and are scheduled to visit Lumphini Park on April 25, 2026, at 6 p.m. to view the exhibitions and performances.
Highlights include a royal tribute ceremony, a contemporary dance performance inspired by the royal literary work Madanabadha, exhibitions honoring King Vajiravudh and Princess Bejaratana Rajasuda, and an illuminated Royal Tribute Garden showcasing the history of Lumphini Park.
The Bangkok Governor noted that Lumphini Park, established by King Vajiravudh, was Thailand’s first public park and continues to serve as a vital space for learning and recreation.
The public is invited to join additional activities, such as ballroom dancing, Khon performances, aerobics, yoga, tai chi, and community markets featuring products from Bangkok’s 50 districts. (NNT)
