PATTAYA, Thailand – A violent confrontation during Songkran celebrations on Pattaya’s Walking Street has sparked outrage online after videos appeared to show three young men attacking an older foreign tourist.

The clips, which were shared on social media on April 17, show three men believed to be of Middle Eastern appearance surrounding and assaulting a European tourist believed to be in his 50s or 60s.

According to the social media post, the altercation allegedly began after the men sprayed water directly into the tourist’s face during Songkran festivities.

The footage shows the victim falling to the ground while nearby Thai and foreign tourists attempt to intervene and stop the fight. Despite efforts to break it up, the attackers appear to continue kicking the man while he is on the ground.

The incident reportedly took place on Walking Street Pattaya during the city’s busy Songkran celebrations.

Reporters who visited the area afterward were unable to locate either party involved. Staff at nearby entertainment venues and motorcycle taxi riders in the area declined to comment on the incident.

As of now, police have not received a formal complaint regarding the altercation.
