PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City held a traditional Songkran ceremony on April 17, bringing together senior officials, administrators, and staff for a day of cultural activities centered on respect, blessings, and Thai tradition.
The event featured a Buddha image bathing ceremony and a rod nam dum hua ceremony, in which city employees poured scented water over the hands of senior executives and elders to ask for blessings during the Thai New Year period.
The ceremony was led by Mayor Poramet Ngampichet along with members of Pattaya City’s executive team, council representatives, and municipal staff.
Participants first gathered to pay respect to Buddha images through a traditional water-pouring ritual, believed to bring good fortune and prosperity for the year ahead. This was followed by the rod nam dum hua ceremony, one of Songkran’s most important customs, symbolizing gratitude, respect, and the strengthening of relationships between younger and senior generations.

Mayor Poramet said the event was an opportunity for city officials to preserve Thai traditions while also strengthening unity within Pattaya City Hall.
He encouraged staff to continue working together in the spirit of cooperation and public service throughout the year.
The annual Songkran ceremony remains one of Pattaya City’s most important internal cultural events, blending traditional Thai customs with community values and respect for seniority.
