BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restructuring Thailand’s energy sector to address global challenges and accelerate the transition to net-zero emissions.

Speaking after the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Plus Online Summit on April 15, 2026, the Prime Minister outlined strategies emphasizing long-term sustainability and immediate cost-of-living relief.

At the summit, the Prime Minister stressed that the global energy crisis requires Thailand to accelerate the adoption of alternative energy sources. He stated that restructuring domestic energy consumption is vital for national security and must not impose excessive financial burdens on the public.

Addressing instability in the Middle East, Anutin stated that the government is closely monitoring the effects on crude oil imports and global prices. He thanked the public for conserving energy, noting that reduced fuel consumption has increased national oil reserves and strengthened energy security.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ mission to Oman and Iran. The delegation is negotiating logistics and trade agreements and ensuring the welfare of Thai nationals. Initial reports indicate positive responses from Middle Eastern partners, which are expected to enhance Thailand’s economic and energy security.

To address the cost of living, the Prime Minister announced that the government is finalizing enhanced relief programs. Key measures include subsidized electricity rates for the first 200 units for all households. The Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Interior will also work together to distribute essential consumer goods at discounted prices in every district nationwide.

The Prime Minister concluded by addressing domestic security and administrative efficiency. He instructed the Royal Thai Police to take legal action against those responsible for local unrest and emphasized the government’s stability and results-oriented approach. He also warned that personnel changes would occur if agency performance did not meet the administration’s standards for public service.

The Prime Minister affirmed that policies will be implemented efficiently and adjusted as needed to deliver tangible results for the public. (NNT)
