PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a summer storm warning for upper Thailand, including parts of the eastern region, with Pattaya expected to experience periods of heavy rain, strong winds, and possible lightning between April 16–20.

The warning comes as a high-pressure system from China pushes down over the region, interacting with hot and unstable air conditions across Thailand. Officials say this combination is increasing the risk of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and isolated hail in some areas.

In the eastern region, including Pattaya, weather conditions are expected to fluctuate, with intense afternoon and evening storms possible during the advisory period. Authorities are urging residents and tourists to remain cautious, especially during outdoor activities and travel.

The Meteorological Department has advised people to avoid open areas, stay away from large trees, and be cautious near weak structures, billboards, and construction sites due to strong wind gusts and lightning risks.

The system is expected to first affect the northeastern and eastern regions before spreading to central Thailand, including Bangkok and surrounding provinces, followed by northern areas.

Residents and visitors in Pattaya are encouraged to monitor weather updates closely and plan travel with care, particularly during the Songkran holiday return period when road traffic remains heavy.

The weather office will continue to issue updated forecasts as conditions develop over the coming days.

Chonburi and Pattaya are set for rain and possible summer storms on April 19–20, as the Thai Meteorological Department warns of thunderstorms and strong gusty winds across April 16–20.
