A newly completed section of Pattaya’s railway parallel road opens with fresh lane markings, as construction pauses for Songkran to ease traffic before resuming on April 20.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Progress on the long-awaited railway parallel road continues to take shape, with another completed section now open and freshly marked for traffic as of April 11, offering improved driving conditions for motorists.

Authorities confirmed that construction will be temporarily suspended during the Songkran holiday to ease congestion and support smoother travel for both residents and tourists. In sections where work is still ongoing, at least one lane will remain open to allow vehicles to pass.

Once the holiday period ends, construction is set to resume on April 20, with efforts focused on accelerating completion of the project to enhance road safety, traffic flow, and overall transport efficiency in the area.

Public response has been mixed but generally positive, with many welcoming the visible progress. Some residents noted concerns over dust in certain unfinished sections, particularly where gravel has been laid but not yet treated, while others praised the improved lighting, smoother surfaces, and safer driving conditions.

Questions remain about specific stretches, including whether previously closed sections have fully reopened, but overall sentiment reflects growing confidence in the project.

As Pattaya continues to expand and modernize its infrastructure, the railway parallel road is emerging as another key route expected to ease traffic pressure and improve connectivity across the city.
