Government officials meet following Cabinet approval of a new policy framework covering economic strategy, social development, security, and environmental management, with the plan set to be presented to Parliament from April 7.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Cabinet has approved the government’s policy statement, detailing a framework across five main areas: the economy; foreign affairs and security; social affairs; disaster management and the environment; and public administration and legal reform.

The plan unfolds amid a volatile global environment, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has disrupted energy supplies and driven up prices. The situation has affected the economy, while domestic challenges remain in areas such as social development, environmental issues, natural disasters, and national security.

The government’s approach will combine short-term measures with longer-term structural changes across economic and social systems. It will also adopt a cluster-based administrative model, promoting coordination between the public and private sectors while positioning the government as a facilitator. Efforts to expand digital systems across government operations will also be accelerated.

Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhanadirek said the administration under the policy will be organized into five strategic groups covering macroeconomic policy and future industries; production and services; infrastructure and natural resources; social development and welfare; and foreign affairs and security. She added that the policy statement will be presented to Parliament starting April 7, with a public version to be made available online. (NNT)
