Foreign man found dead in Pattaya apartment stairwell as police launch investigation into cause of death.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Police in Pattaya are investigating the death of a 65-year-old Icelandic man who was found sitting deceased in the stairwell of an apartment building in central Pattaya.

Authorities said the man was discovered by his partner in the early morning hours after he failed to respond. Initial investigations have not yet determined the cause of death, and his body has been sent for a full autopsy at the Police General Hospital’s Institute of Forensic Medicine.

CCTV footage reviewed by police showed no signs of forced entry or any suspicious individuals entering or leaving the room. The footage indicated the man had been seen moving in and out of his room during the early hours of the night before the incident.

Investigators also reported that the man had sent messages earlier in the morning to his partner, in which he appeared emotionally distressed and expressed feelings of frustration regarding personal family matters, including issues related to children and plans to return to Iceland.

Police emphasized that all possible factors are still being examined and no conclusions have been reached as the investigation continues.
