MAE HONG SON, Thailand – The Ministry of Interior has conducted inspections of fuel stations in Mae Hong Son province to prevent consumer exploitation and ensure compliance with pricing regulations. Deputy Permanent Secretary Pasakorn Boonyalak led the operation, joined by provincial officials, during visits to stations in Pai and the capital districts.
The inspections were conducted due to concerns over the impact of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East on global energy prices and supply chains. In response, the ministry has established a central coordination body to manage the situation, reduce public hardship, and maintain order in line with government policy.
During the visits, Pasakorn and the delegation met with fuel station operators and customers, observing continued demand for fuel. Authorities instructed local officials to closely monitor supply levels, check fuel reserves, and ensure sales comply with legally approved prices, while guarding against stockpiling and unjustified price increases.
Officials warned that violations will result in legal action. Members of the public who encounter unfair practices are encouraged to report them through provincial or district Damrongtham centers or via the 1567 hotline, which operates 24 hours a day. (NNT)
