BANGKOK, Thailand – The Government announced positive outcomes from Thailand’s participation in the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) 2026, with foreign film productions projected to generate over 1.6 billion baht in investment.

Deputy Government Spokesperson Airin Phanrit stated on March 21, 2026, that Team Thailand participated in the event from March 17 to 20 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to promote Thailand as an international filming destination.

During the first two days, Thailand attracted significant interest from global film and media producers. Sixteen major production companies from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and New Zealand plan to film in Thailand from late 2026 through 2027. The projected investment exceeds 1.6 billion baht, surpassing the target set by the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

These achievements reflect international confidence in Thailand’s diverse filming locations, skilled workforce, and government incentives, including cash rebates of up to 30% for foreign productions.

Industry discussions also highlighted the rise of vertical content production in China. This format requires less investment and aligns with digital audience preferences, offering Thailand new opportunities to develop targeted policies and attract emerging media productions. (NNT)
