PATTAYA, Thailand – Weather conditions in Pattaya and surrounding eastern provinces are expected to remain hot during the day with occasional thunderstorms, as Thailand’s meteorological authorities warn of potential summer storms later this week.

The Thai Meteorological Department said the eastern region, including Chonburi, may experience scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds in some areas as warm temperatures combine with moist air flowing in from the Gulf of Thailand and the South China Sea.

Daytime temperatures in the region are expected to reach 34–36°C, with nighttime lows between 23–26°C.

Although rain coverage is currently forecast to affect around 20 percent of the eastern region, residents and visitors are being advised to remain cautious during storms, particularly when strong winds develop.

Forecasters say the weather pattern is being driven by a low-pressure system caused by heat covering much of upper Thailand, while southeasterly winds continue to carry moisture into the region.

More significant weather could arrive soon.

Between March 11 and March 13, meteorologists are warning that parts of upper Thailand could experience summer storms, bringing thunderstorms, strong winds, heavy rain in some areas and possible hail.

The unstable weather is expected to develop as a high-pressure system from China pushes cooler air southward, colliding with hot air already present over Thailand. The interaction can trigger powerful storm systems typical of the country’s early summer season.

While the most intense storms are expected to affect northern and northeastern provinces, eastern coastal areas such as Pattaya could still see sudden thunderstorms and gusty winds during the period.

Authorities are advising residents, tourists and boat operators to monitor weather updates closely and avoid outdoor activities during severe storms.

For Pattaya’s tourism industry, the mix of sunshine and brief tropical downpours remains a familiar part of the seasonal transition as Thailand moves toward its hotter months. Beachgoers can still expect plenty of sunny periods, though afternoon storms may occasionally interrupt outdoor plans.
