PATTAYA, Thailand – Residents and visitors in Pattaya can expect hot conditions with the possibility of isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.

Weather officials say overall rainfall across upper Thailand has decreased, but some areas may still experience thunderstorms and strong wind gusts, particularly during the afternoon or evening.

The current conditions are influenced by a high-pressure system from China extending over northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea. This system is interacting with southerly and southeasterly winds that are carrying moisture from the sea across much of the country, including the eastern seaboard where Pattaya is located.

As a result, Pattaya and nearby coastal areas in Chonburi are expected to remain generally hot, though isolated storms may still develop.

Authorities are advising residents, tourists, and beachgoers to remain cautious during sudden thunderstorms, which may bring short bursts of heavy rain and strong winds.

Meanwhile, conditions in southern Thailand are expected to become wetter. Stronger easterly and southeasterly winds over the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea are likely to increase rainfall in the southern region.

Sea conditions in the Gulf of Thailand are also becoming rougher. Waves are expected to reach 1 to 2 meters, and may exceed 2 meters in areas experiencing thunderstorms. Mariners and small boats are advised to avoid sailing in stormy areas.

Air quality is another concern. The Thai Meteorological Department reports that dust and haze levels remain moderate to relatively high in several regions, including northern Thailand, central Thailand, the Bangkok metropolitan area, and parts of the eastern region. The accumulation is attributed to weak to moderate air circulation, which slows the dispersal of airborne particles.

While Pattaya’s coastal breeze may help ease some pollution levels, hazy conditions could still occur at times, particularly during calm weather periods.

With hot weather continuing and occasional storms still possible, authorities recommend that people stay hydrated, monitor weather updates, and exercise caution during sudden changes in weather conditions, especially along the coastline.
