The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand has advised Thai nationals in the Middle East to leave high-risk locations as soon as possible, with an evacuation plan underway from Tehran to Türkiye before evacuees return to Thailand.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai authorities are urging citizens in the Middle East to leave high-risk areas as soon as possible as fighting in the region continues. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the situation remains sensitive and uncertain, although no Thai nationals have been reported injured or killed.

Panidone Pachimsawat, acting director-general of the Department of Information and deputy spokesperson for the ministry, said Thai nationals in the region should closely monitor developments and follow announcements issued by authorities in host countries. Those residing in areas considered higher risk have been advised to depart when possible.

Iran has been assessed as the highest-risk location, and the government has approved an evacuation plan for Thai nationals there. The Royal Thai Embassy in Tehran is arranging road transportation from Tehran to Türkiye, where evacuees will continue their journey back to Thailand.

The evacuation will take place in two rounds, scheduled for March 7 and March 10. So far, 138 Thai nationals, most of them students and workers, have registered to return. Thai embassies in other Middle Eastern countries are also monitoring developments and remain ready to assist citizens if conditions change. (NNT)
