Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presides over the ceremonial placement of the foundation marker for the Royal Crematorium for the Royal Cremation Ceremony of Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother at Sanam Luang, presenting the marker to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who symbolically placed markers at the four cardinal directions to mark the official start of construction.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the ceremonial placement of the foundation marker for the construction layout of the Royal Crematorium for the Royal Cremation Ceremony of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, at Sanam Luang in Bangkok.



During the ceremony, Her Royal Highness lit gold and silver candles and incense at the offering table. The Chief Brahmin officiant recited invocations to sacred deities and former monarchs. Her Royal Highness then sprinkled holy water over the marker and tools, and scattered rice and flowers as part of the auspicious rites.

Her Royal Highness presented the ceremonial marker to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who then symbolically placed markers at the four cardinal directions, marking the official commencement of the construction of the Royal Crematorium. (NNT)
