BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Police (RTP) has expanded its partnership with Meta Platforms, Inc. to intensify efforts against illegal online gambling, predatory lending apps, and fraudulent recruitment ads used by scam syndicates.

On February 20, Deputy Inspector General and Deputy Spokesperson Trairong Pewpan led a meeting with Police Major General Thanantorn Rattanasitthipak, representatives from the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), and Meta executives, including Mr. Ben Leechaianan, Head of Public Policy for Facebook Thailand, Mr. Avinash Raju, and Ms. Fatima Laraib.

The meeting focused on developing effective measures to block illegal platforms and deceptive ads that recruit victims for overseas scam centers. This collaboration has already led Meta to disable Facebook pages suspected of illegal activity.

Royal Thai Police data shows that over 52,000 pages were blocked between October 2025 and February 2026. Both parties meet monthly to monitor progress, assess new cyber threats, and improve enforcement strategies.

This ongoing partnership highlights the government’s commitment to making cybercrime prevention a national priority and maintaining consistent efforts to protect the public from online exploitation. (NNT)
