
BANGKOK, Thailand – His Majesty the King has extended royal medical patronage and royal funeral support to those injured or deceased due to unrest in Thailand’s southern border provinces, with the Ministry of Culture swiftly implementing His Majesty’s Royal directives.
Minister of Culture Sabeeda Thaised stated that the Ministry was notified by the Bureau of the Royal Household following unrest in the southern border area, which resulted in injuries and fatalities among personnel, officials, and the public. His Majesty the King has graciously placed all injured individuals under royal medical patronage and extended royal patronage to those who have lost their lives. In addition, His Majesty has provided funeral assistance of 20,000 baht per case to the families of deceased personnel and officials.
Provincial governors or their representatives have been instructed to present royal flowers and gift baskets to all injured individuals, demonstrating royal compassion and providing encouragement to affected families.
The Minister added that the Ministry of Culture has received the royal concern with deep respect and has directed provincial cultural offices to coordinate with provincial governors and relevant agencies. The Ministry will promptly submit information on the deceased to the Royal Funeral Ceremony Division under the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Culture to request special royal cremation rites.
Preparations will be made in close coordination with bereaved families to ensure royal funeral ceremonies proceed smoothly, with dignity, and in accordance with the honor prescribed by the Bureau of the Royal Household.
