BANGKOK, Thailand – Bang Rak District was filled with joy and celebration on Valentine’s Day as more than 1,300 couples took part in off-site marriage registration during the annual “Love at Bang Rak” event, welcoming couples of all genders, including LGBTQ partners, in a warm and inclusive atmosphere, Feb 14.
The event was organized by the Bang Rak District Office in cooperation with Thailand’s gem and jewelry sector, and held on the first floor of the Jewelry Trade Center on Silom Road. The initiative aimed to provide a special opportunity for couples to officially register their marriages on Valentine’s Day.
District officials said more than 1,300 couples had registered online in advance, with many more registering on-site throughout the day. Marriage registrations were conducted from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., continuing until the final couple completed the process. A special order allowed couples to register without personal witnesses, as district officers served as official witnesses.
The atmosphere was lively and cheerful from early morning, with couples lining up continuously. Many arrived in matching outfits, most commonly in pastel blue and pink tones, while others carried bouquets and gifts. The venue was decorated with red heart-themed displays and a large heart-shaped entrance arch, and free photo services were provided to commemorate the occasion.

One couple, who had been together for 15 years, described the day as the most special moment of their lives, saying they had deliberately chosen Valentine’s Day to officially begin their married life together.
The event also featured a lucky draw for 12 gold marriage certificates, held in four rounds throughout the day. In the first round, the prize went to Mr. Peerapong Jamnong and Ms. Salinthip Srichaiwong, who said the award marked an auspicious start to their life as a married couple.
Meanwhile, at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal in Chatuchak district, another Valentine’s Day highlight took place with the “Love in the Sky 2026” event. Couples registered their marriages aboard an electric commuter train, marking the second time such an event has been held in the world, following its first edition in 2025.
The initiative emphasized equality and inclusivity, allowing couples of all ages and genders to express their love openly. Couples exchanged vows in a unique setting and participated in onboard activities to win prizes including gold, home appliances, and other gifts. Entertainment at the event included a mini concert by a singer from The Voice and appearances by celebrity couples.
