PATTAYA, Thailand – Residents in Sattahip district have voiced complaints after a large motorcycle touring group, calling itself the “Durian Nonthaburi Kanyao Trip,” descended on the area, prompting police to step up traffic enforcement amid concerns over noise and road safety, Feb 1.
Reporters said between 700 and 1,000 motorcycles traveled together to the Hat Nang Ram area in Samae San subdistrict, Sattahip, on Saturday. Some riders were seen riding recklessly and revving engines loudly, raising fears of possible accidents and disturbing local communities. Many residents took to social media to express frustration over the disruption.
In response, Pol. Col. Komsan Khamtunkaew, Superintendent of Sattahip Police Station, ordered a coordinated enforcement operation, deploying traffic police, motorcycle patrol units, special operations teams, and investigators to set up checkpoints and strictly enforce the Land Traffic Act.

The move followed complaints of motorcycle racing and excessive noise along Road 3126 near the Samae San intersection. Police detained 14 motorcycles for inspection and instructed owners to present documentation to verify legal compliance.
Pol. Col. Komsan said police had already gathered intelligence and coordinated with group leaders or key organizers regarding the motorcycle tour. While Sattahip welcomes tourists, he stressed that all visitors must travel responsibly, obey traffic laws, avoid racing or excessive noise, and refrain from reckless riding that could endanger themselves and others.
He added that motorcycles found to be in violation of the law would be subject to strict legal action, emphasizing that enforcement is necessary to protect public safety, local residents, and the riders themselves.
