Bangkok announces major road closures for Central World Countdown 2026

Traffic police manage road closures around the Ratchaprasong area as the Metropolitan Police Bureau implements temporary restrictions on key roads to accommodate the Central World Countdown 2026 celebrations, urging the public to plan ahead and avoid affected routes during the New Year period.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Metropolitan Police Bureau has announced temporary traffic closures to facilitate the Central World Countdown 2026 event. During this period, all types of vehicles will be prohibited from using the following routes:

From 12 P.M. (Dec 31, 2025) to 5 A.M. (Jan 1, 2026)
Ratchadamri Road (Pratunam Intersection – Ratchaprasong Intersection)

From 4 P.M. (Dec 31, 2025) to 2 A.M. (Jan 1, 2026)
Ratchadamri Road (Ratchaprasong Intersection – Soi Mahatlek Luang 1)
Rama I Road (Chalermphao Intersection – Ratchaprasong Intersection)
Ploenchit Road (Ratchaprasong Intersection – Chidlom Intersection)
Ratchaprarop Road (Makkasan Nikhom Intersection – Pratunam Intersection)
Phetchaburi Road (Chidlom Intersection – Pratunam Intersection)



The Metropolitan Police Bureau urged road users and event attendees to plan their travel in advance and avoid affected routes to minimise traffic disruption during the New Year holiday period.
