Prime Minister leads solemn tribute for two fallen soldiers in Surin

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul leads a repatriation and tribute ceremony in Surin for two Thai soldiers killed during operations along the Thai–Cambodian border.

SURIN, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul led a solemn tribute and repatriation ceremony in Surin, honoring two Thai soldiers who gave their lives protecting national sovereignty along the Thai–Cambodian border.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Defence Lieutenant General Adul Boonthumjaroen and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Ansit Samphantharat. The ceremony honoured Staff Sergeant Saming Khlang Prakhon and Private Phanuphat Sao Sa of the 3rd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, who were killed during clashes along the Thai–Cambodian border.



Surin Governor Chareon Waenphet, the Commander of the 25th Military Circle, senior officials, and military personnel from Weerawat Yothin Camp also attended. The ceremony paid tribute to the two soldiers before their remains were returned to their hometowns with full military honours.

The two soldiers lost their lives during operations in the Hill 350 area of Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province. The 25th Military Circle coordinated the transfer of their remains from Weerawat Yothin Camp Hospital. Along the procession routes, crowds of citizens lined the streets, waving Thai flags and paying heartfelt tribute to the fallen.


The remains of Staff Sergeant Saming Khlang Prakhon were transported to Prakhon Chai District, Buriram Province, for funeral rites at Wat Huai Por, while the remains of Private Phanuphat Sao Sa were taken to Khukhan District, Sisaket Province, for funeral ceremonies at Wat Klang Khukhan. (NNT)
