PATTAYA, Thailand – Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) has rejected what it described as misleading reports circulated by Cambodian media, insisting that there have been no cases of lost passenger baggage and that services at Bangkok airports fully comply with international standards.

The clarification followed reports published on December 18 claiming that the Cambodian Embassy in France had issued a travel warning regarding transit through Bangkok airports. The reports alleged that European passengers transiting via Thailand faced inappropriate and excessive scrutiny, including prolonged questioning, unreasonable requests for proof of financial status, detailed checks of accommodation bookings in Cambodia, and missing luggage.

AOT said these claims are untrue.

In a statement, AOT reaffirmed its commitment to providing efficient passenger services while maintaining aviation safety and security in line with international standards. The company said it operates baggage tracking systems and passenger complaint mechanisms to ensure smooth, fair, and effective travel experiences.

“As the Gateway to Thailand, AOT is committed to facilitating travel while upholding safety and security in accordance with global aviation standards,” the statement said. AOT added that it is ready to cooperate with relevant domestic and international agencies to ensure accurate understanding and to reinforce global confidence in Thailand’s air transport system.

AOT further confirmed that all six airports under its management strictly follow established security and operational procedures for passengers and baggage. These procedures are regularly audited and certified in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), covering both aviation safety and security. (TNA)
