BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand has signed letters of intent with the Haikou Municipal Tourism Authority and Tongcheng Travel Holdings to enhance cooperation in promoting travel between Thailand and China. The signing ceremony took place recently at the Langham Haikou Hotel in Haikou City, Hainan province.
The agreements were signed by TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Wang Ke, director and senior researcher at Haikou’s Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television, and Sports, and Li Minghao, vice president of Tongcheng Group and Tongcheng Travel Holdings. The partnerships support tourism promotion, two-way travel, and closer connectivity between destinations in both countries.
Under the agreement with the Haikou municipal tourism authority, the two parties will collaborate on tourism promotion and product development. Planned cooperation includes tourism fairs, roadshows, trade events, key opinion leader exchanges, and the development of travel products linking Haikou to destinations in Thailand.
The partnership with Tongcheng Travel Holdings builds on years of cooperation and will involve tourism data exchange, joint marketing activities, and public relations campaigns. The collaboration is expected to improve access to Thai travel products for Chinese travelers through digital platforms and online distribution channels.
Haikou, a coastal city on Hainan Island with a population of more than three million, plays a vital role in tourism and economic activity within the Hainan Free Trade Port. TAT has previously worked with tourism authorities in Haikou and Hainan province on promotional programs, charter flight discussions, and trade events, and views the new agreements as a step toward deeper tourism cooperation between Thailand and China.
