Rear Adm. Surasant Kongsiri briefs the media at the Joint Press Center, outlining rising casualties and intensified operations along the Thai–Cambodian border, as nearly 200,000 civilians are affected and curfew measures tighten in Sa Kaeo province.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Joint Press Center on the Thailand–Cambodia Situation reported that military operations remain underway along the eastern border from Ubon Ratchathani to Trat province.

Defence Ministry Spokesperson Rear Admiral Surasant Kongsiri said that as of 4 p.m. on December 10, nine military personnel have been killed and more than 120 have been injured, while three civilians have died and nearly 200,000 people have been affected by the fighting.

The Royal Thai Navy is leading operations in Chanthaburi and Trat, with the Royal Thai Air Force providing air support to both the Royal Thai Army and the Royal Thai Navy.

In addition, Rear Admiral Surasant explained that the curfew in four districts of Sa Kaeo province is necessary for public safety because the border there is a ground-to-ground contact line that is vulnerable to infiltration.

Rear Admiral Surasant added that the government has prepared evacuation plans for Thai nationals in Cambodia. Thais in the country are urged to register with the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, and Thai authorities strongly advise against traveling to Cambodia at this time. (NNT)
