SONGKHLA, Thailand – Minister of Justice Police Lieutenant General Rutthaphon Naowarat has led a delegation to Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, to provide assistance and monitor post-flood rehabilitation efforts. The visit began at Saphan Dam Mosque in Khlong Hae Subdistrict, where the Minister distributed 600 relief packages and received updates on immediate needs from affected households.
The Minister then visited Soi 7 in the Ploenchit community to observe the ongoing clean-up operations conducted by inmates from Correctional Regions 8 and 9. The Governor of Songkhla assigned Deputy Governor Sangkhom Koetkor to welcome and accompany the delegation. More than 200 individuals under correctional supervision have been mobilized to support community rehabilitation, including debris removal and restoration of damaged homes. The delegation also visited the “Repair and Rebuild Center” operated by Correctional Region 9, which provides motorcycle repair services for flood-affected residents in cooperation with Rayong Vocational College.
The Minister noted that justice-sector personnel and correctional teams will continue supporting recovery operations until January 31, 2026, with the possibility of extending assistance should restoration needs remain.
The visit continued to Ban Tha Sai School, where repair stations were set up to assist residents with household restoration. These efforts are supported by the SCG Foundation, which provides tools and technical teams to facilitate repairs.
The Ministry of Justice has also supplied equipment to establish ten mobile incinerators to address waste accumulation following the floods, ensuring sustainable sanitation improvements. Agencies under the Ministry—including the Legal Execution Department and the Central Institute of Forensic Science—are providing legal assistance to affected residents and conducting identity verification for deceased individuals to ensure accuracy across all procedures.
Multiple agencies are working jointly to accelerate relief and reconstruction efforts across flood-impacted communities in Songkhla. (NNT)
