A 12-story building linked to transnational Chinese crime is reduced to rubble across from Mae Sot, while Thai authorities coordinate the return of 1,208 suspects on charter flights for prosecution.

TAK, Thailand – Myanmar military forces, alongside the Border Guard Force (BGF), demolished a 12-story building in the Shwe Kokko special economic zone (SEZ) today, across from Thailand’s Mae Sot, in a highly visible operation targeting a major ‘scam center’ linked to Chinese organized crime.

At approximately 12:30 PM local time, the synchronized explosion reduced the riverfront tower to rubble. The loud blast and ensuing dust cloud—visible across the border—signaled a firm commitment to eradicating the transnational scam operations that have flourished in the SEZ.

The demolition coincided with a massive repatriation effort in Mae Sot.

Thai authorities transferred the third batch of 300 Chinese nationals, suspected of operating as scammers, to Chinese charter flights.

These individuals fled the compounds, including Shwe Kokko, following the Myanmar military’s recent crackdown. China has scheduled six charter flights daily for four days to take back a total of 1,208 suspects for prosecution. (TNA)
