BANGKOK, Thailand – “Silk Festival 2025,” Thailand’s premier annual celebration of Thai textiles, returns under the continued vision of advancing sustainable development.
The Community Development Department of the Ministry of Interior invites the public to attend this year’s Silk Festival, organized under the theme Bring the Village to the World. The event honors Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, whose influential role has transformed Thai craftsmanship and expanded it onto the global stage. UNESCO has recognized Her Royal Highness’s achievements and further celebrated her through the WIPO Award for Creative Excellence 2025.
A royal tribute exhibition will be featured at the festival, presenting the accomplishments of the Fun with Thai Fabrics initiative. The exhibition highlights the project’s success in revitalizing traditional textiles and encouraging greater appreciation among younger generations.
The festival also includes a major fashion showcase featuring more than 66 designer looks developed under the Fun with Thai Fabrics program. These pieces were created by leading Thai designers from 31 prominent brands, including SIRIVANNAVARI, VICKTEERUT, CHAI GOLD LABEL, and VATITITTHI. The runway presentation reflects the creativity and contemporary interpretation of Thai textile identity in the global fashion landscape.
A Mini Symposium, hosted by the Fashion Designers Association of Thailand (FTFD), will provide further insights into the artistic and cultural value of Thai fabrics. Speakers will discuss evolving perspectives on textile design and how traditional materials continue to inspire modern fashion.
The event also features a ceremony to present the newly designed royal medals, adding a special highlight that recognizes outstanding contributions within the Thai textile sector. More than 200 premium OTOP vendors will participate in the festival, offering high-quality craft products, apparel, accessories, and lifestyle items. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a variety of cultural activities and entertainment throughout the festival grounds.
Silk Festival 2025 aims to strengthen the local economy while preserving and advancing Thailand’s rich textile heritage in a sustainable and meaningful way. The event will take place from December 2-7, 2025, at IMPACT Exhibition Center, Halls 5–6, Muang Thong Thani. Admission is free for all visitors. (NNT)
