BANGKOK, Thailand – Police in Pathum Thani have arrested Peerawit “Mos”, 28, following a robbery at a local grocery store where the suspect used a fake firearm to force a 68-year-old shop owner to transfer money via a banking app before locking her in the restroom.
Authorities traced Mos to his residence at Happy Apartment, Moo 1, Ban Pathum Subdistrict, Sam Khok District. When officers attempted to apprehend him, he resisted and tried to flee, but police successfully restrained him.
The arrest followed a robbery complaint filed by Bunyanuch, the store owner. Mos allegedly threatened the victim with a fake gun, demanding valuables and forcing her to reveal her banking app password. He then transferred 2,600 baht from her account and stole 3,700 baht in cash from the store. Afterward, he pushed the victim into the restroom and fled on a motorcycle.
Within three hours, investigators collected evidence, obtained a court warrant, and arrested Mos along with the fake revolver and the motorcycle used in the crime. A search of his apartment recovered clothing and shoes worn during the robbery, a black full-face helmet, a black sling bag, the plastic revolver, 640 baht in cash, and a gold-colored Buddha ring.
Mos admitted to committing the robbery, explaining that he could not pay his motorcycle installment and intended to use the stolen money to buy a birthday cake for his girlfriend. Police have conducted a reconstruction of the crime scene and handed him over to prosecutors for legal proceedings. (TNA)
