Repair crews work to stabilize washed-out railway sections in southern Thailand, enabling SRT to resume more services while emergency repairs continue on the Hat Yai Junction line.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has announced the resumption of additional train services and adjustments to specific routes as floodwaters in the lower southern region continue to recede. Repair teams have been able to access affected sections of the track, enabling significant progress toward restoring normal operations.

SRT reported that flood levels along several railway sections have decreased steadily, enabling engineering and civil works teams to inspect track conditions, repair soil subsidence, and reinforce weakened sections. As a result, routes between Huai Yot District and Trang Province, as well as between Thung Song Junction and Phatthalung Province, are now fully operational.

With the improved conditions, four additional round-trip services have resumed as of November 29. These include Express Trains No. 83/84 operating on the Krungthep Aphiwat–Trang–Krungthep Aphiwat route, and Rapid Trains No. 167/168 operating on the Krungthep Aphiwat–Kantang–Krungthep Aphiwat route. In addition, SRT has adjusted the origin and terminal stations for Rapid Trains No. 169/170 from the Krungthep Aphiwat–Yala–Krungthep Aphiwat route to the Krungthep Aphiwat–Phatthalung–Krungthep Aphiwat route, which will operate from December 1-2, 2025.

Despite improving conditions, inspections of the Hat Yai Junction route revealed extensive damage between Ban Tondon Station and Hat Yai Junction. Several sections of the trackbed were washed out, ballast was heavily displaced, and rail fastenings and components were damaged. SRT confirmed that urgent repairs are underway to restore safe operations on this key southern line as soon as possible. (NNT)
